Damit der Vergaser Kraftstoff und Luft ungehindert mischen kann, muss [das Motorrad] ausreichend Kraftstoff vorrätig haben. Allerdings darf es nicht zu viel sein, da sonst die Gefahr besteht, dass der Vergaser und der Motor überflutet werden. Ein wichtiger Teil des Vergasersystems ist daher die Schwimmerkammer, in der der Schwimmer sitzt. Der Schwimmer des Vergasers prüft die Kraftstoffmenge in der Kammer und lässt keinen Kraftstoff in den Vergaser fließen, ohne dass der Fahrer ihn dazu zwingt. Achten Sie auf die Form des Vergaserschwimmers. Ein Fehler bei der Auswahl, eine Verformung oder ein falscher Einbau beeinträchtigen die Prüfung der Kraftstoffmenge in der Kammer. Aus denselben Gründen verlangt Yamaha YFM 660 die Einstellung des Schwimmerniveaus und bei Beschädigung den sofortigen Austausch des Bauteils.
