Um das Gewicht der Kurbelwelle und ihres Ausgleichsgewichts zu minimieren, wird der Motor über ein so genanntes Vorschaltgetriebe mit dem Getriebe verbunden. Durch diese Anordnung wird die Welle deutlich verschlankt und ein Ausgleichsgetriebe ist nicht erforderlich. Andererseits bedeutet das Vorgelege auch Änderungen in der Konstruktion des unteren Teils des Motors. Hier verwendet Honda CB 650 eine spezielle Kette und damit auch Spanner und Schieber. Diese müssen Sie unbedingt für Ihr Modell auswählen und regelmäßig überprüfen, da schon kleine Schäden, Verschleiß oder Einbaufehler die Funktion der Antriebseinheit und des Getriebes stark beeinträchtigen können.
