Das hintere Ritzel ist das letzte Bauteil, das die Kraft mit Hilfe der Antriebskette überträgt. Das Piaggio TPH 50 Typhoon nutzt es, um die Kraft von der Kette auf das Rad zu übertragen, wodurch das Ritzel den Unterschieden zwischen dieser Kraft und den vom Rad ausgehenden Kräften ausgesetzt ist. Aus diesen Gründen ist ein typisches Ritzel aus starkem Stahl gefertigt. Das leichtere hintere Ritzel aus Aluminium lohnt sich vor allem dort, wo [das Motorrad] jedes Gramm aus dem System herausholen kann. Hier kann man mehr als die Hälfte des Gewichts des hinteren Ritzels zurückgewinnen. Kein Ritzel erfüllt hingegen seinen Zweck, wenn es nicht korrekt montiert und im System befestigt ist. Achten Sie auf die Montage und die Qualität der notwendigen Komponenten und überprüfen Sie regelmäßig den Zustand. Denken Sie auch daran, dass eine Änderung der Abmessungen des Ritzels eine Reihe von anderen Änderungen nach sich zieht, allen voran die Kettenspannung und die Kraftverteilung.
